I discovered a new favorite blog today. It's called Book By It's Cover and it features a special section on Artist Sketchbooks. I looked at only a few artists so far and I already became inspired to work on some sketchbook pages of my own.I have a special love for artist sketchbooks, as I am an avid sketchbook artist myself. I love to share the pages from my sketchbooks, because I like to share my visual ideas. I use sketchbooks as a place to work and play. Sometimes a larger project will come from a page or two. Most of the time my sketchbooks are places where I can feel free to try new things or practice old skills.
I painted with the new watercolors I bought at Allard's and came up with some interesting pastels and patterns while I watched Hoarders, which by the way has been making me clean up and de-clutter some areas around my house that I've been putting off My bedroom is the first in a series of DIY decorating projects I will be working on. I can't wait to show you the work as it progresses. I was thinking that the patterns below could be great inspirations for some curtains that I want to paint. I love the colors on this for a bedroom, especially the ivory, turquoise, icy blue, phthalo blue, tangerine and vermilion.
I have a very nice little collection of books about artists and writers sketchbooks
and journals. Here are a few of my favorites. If you love looking at sketchbooks,
you may find looking through the pages of these books a treasure trove of inspiration.
