I've seen all sorts of chandelier earrings lately using multiple filigree shapes. I made these earrings today using some filigree discs and nail polish to glam them up. Here is how I made them:
Supplies:
20+ filigree discs, various sizes (I used 10 for each earring)
30+ jumprings
2 silver colored ear hooks
nail polish, many colors
I found these filigree discs at my local craft store. I bought two packages for $8.
Each package came with 13 discs.
I thought the discs were a bit drab. I wanted to glam them up, so I decided to try using nail polish as a paint. I've seen it used in different projects around the internet. I didn't plan to use the square shape that came with the filigree package so I used them as testers for paint colors.
While the testers were drying I laid out the plan for the way I would hang the discs. As I was working I realized that I needed to make a mock up before I painted them. This is the pattern I ended up with. I took many tries to get it right. Be patient with this part. It may take several tries to get it right.
The fun part was painting the discs. I settled for this lovely silver paint.
I liked the silver. It added sparkle, but I wanted them to be a bit more dramatic.
I wanted more color and glitter so I decided to layer one more color over the silver.
I loved the way the color turned out after adding this glittery confetti color.
It gave them a very Mexican flair.
Here is the finished assembled earring. I love the way they turned out. I hope you make a pair, too.
Cheers!
